Crucial nine-game homestand begins tomorrow

Milwaukee cornerstone Ryan Braun has 20 home runs, 68 runs batted in, 19 stolen bases, and is hitting at a .321 clip in 2011.

The Milwaukee Brewers, fresh off the heels of a 5-6 west coast road trip, begin a nine-game homestand tomorrow against the rival Chicago Cubs. The I-94 series is the start of a crucial stretch of games for Milwaukee against NL Central opponents. The Brewers began today in a virtual three-way tie for first in the division. As we reach the dog days of summer, the days will get longer and each game will become more important. Let’s not forget, however, that the season is a marathon and cannot be won or lost by a single game in July. That being said, a successful homestand is key for Milwaukee’s confidence, swagger, and momentum. Below are the projected starters for the series with the struggling Cubs.

7/26 – Cubs @ Brewers: Ryan Dempster (7-7, 5.00) vs. Chris Narveson (6-6, 4.45)

7/27 – Cubs @ Brewers: Carlos Zambrano (7-5, 4.70) vs. Zack Greinke (7-4, 4.84)

7/28 – Cubs @ Brewers: Randy Wells (2-3, 6.17) vs. Shaun Marcum (9-3, 3.35)

Let’s also take a quick glance at Ryan Braun’s season thus far… less we not forget that this site is named in his honor:

.321 batting average, 20 homers, 68 runs batted in, 19 steals, 22 doubles, 3 triples, .398 on-base %, .583 slugging %, 41 BB/56 K
